South's Top Player, Spencer of Springfield Monday, May 22nd, 2000 A battle-tested Cecil Spencer declared war on opposing pitchers last week, attacking the ball like the well-schooled veteran he is. Today the 33-year-old Springfield shortstop collected the South Player of the Week Award. He wrapped up the week with a .500 average, 7 hits in 14 at-bats, 3 home runs, 10 RBIs and 5 runs scored. So far this year Spencer is hitting .269 with 7 home runs. |
