Lake Monsters Chill West's Hot Streak
Thursday, April 1st, 1999
It was the best of both worlds for the Bay City Lake Monsters today at The Cove as they defeated the Cedar Rapids Rebels 9-5 and also ended Clark West's 22-game hitting streak. The 26-year-old Cedar Rapids first baseman failed to get a hit in 5 at-bats.
"Nothing personal against Clark, we just wanted to win the game," said the victorious Lake Monsters skipper. "We did a great job keeping him off balance and guessing."
When asked by reporters about his streak coming to an end, West frowned and said, "I won't lie and say that I'm not disappointed about my streak ending, but I would feel much better about things if we had won the game."
