250 Wins for Canton's Carver
Saturday, April 8th, 1995
His goal at twenty was to win twenty games one year, pitch until he was thirty, win the league pennant and to make some money. Well, Zane Carver did something even better -- the 41-year-old Canton Kernels star has now won 250 games in his career. That put him in a very select group of pitchers.

He joined that exclusive club today at Field of Dreams by whipping the Dayton Dawgs 6-0, holding them to 4 hits in 6.1 innings while chalking up 8 strikeouts and 1 walk.

In the postgame interview, the modest Carver said, "It's special to win 250 games. You don't do it by yourself. You do it with good stuff and a good bullpen. You are only as good as the guys behind you. Years from now I might look back on it and give myself a little pat on the back."

In career stats, the 41-year-old Carver has won 250 and lost 152, recording 2706 strikeouts and 665 walks in 3618 innings with a 3.33 ERA. Opponents have hit .251 against him.
