Well, Zane Carver did something even better -- the 41-year-old Canton Kernels star has now won 250 games in his career. That put him in a very select group of pitchers. He joined that exclusive club today at Field of Dreams by whipping the Dayton Dawgs 6-0, holding them to 4 hits in 6.1 innings while chalking up 8 strikeouts and 1 walk. In the postgame interview, the modest Carver said, "It's special to win 250 games. You don't do it by yourself. You do it with good stuff and a good bullpen. You are only as good as the guys behind you. Years from now I might look back on it and give myself a little pat on the back." In career stats, the 41-year-old Carver has won 250 and lost 152, recording 2706 strikeouts and 665 walks in 3618 innings with a 3.33 ERA. Opponents have hit .251 against him. |
