Best South Newcomer Named Tuesday, August 1st, 1989 Youngster Boyd Pearson emerged as the latest South Rookie of the Month today. The young man from Springfield deserved the honor, batting .343 with 2 home runs and 10 RBI. Is the month of July a harbinger of things to come or just a fluke? We'll find out someday, but for now, we'll just let Pearson enjoy the limelight. Thus far this season Pearson is hitting .301 with 3 home runs, 41 RBIs and 65 runs scored. He has 131 hits in 435 at-bats and has played in 107 games. |
