North Rookie Hittin' on All Cylinders in June Tuesday, July 1st, 2003 Almost everyone agreed -- fans, teammates, peers -- and BNN sportwriters, too -- that Jesus Mateo was worthy of the North Rookie of the Month award. In the month of June the Davenport first baseman was a bigtime threat. The 26-year-old Davenport first baseman played in 27 games and hit .346 with 3 doubles, no triples and 3 home runs.
