South Batting Title Goes to Dayton's Mathie
Wednesday, September 12th, 1990
After hitting .350 this season, Dayton right fielder Rodney Mathie was officially declared the 1990 South batting titlist by the league office. The 27-year-old star smacked 190 hits in 141 games and added 25 home runs, 100 RBIs and 94 runs to his resume. "What can I say? I had a good year," Mathie said with a smile to reporters after hearing the news. "A little luck didn't hurt either!"
