16 Ks for Hodges, Beats South Bend 3-1 Wednesday, June 6th, 2001 Leslie Hodges of the Cedar Rapids Rebels really put on a pitching clinic today at Rebel Field as he struck out 16 South Bend Silver Sox in a 3-1 victory. Hodges, who is 4th in the North in complete games with 3, was simply magnificent as he held the Silver Sox to 68 hits. He walked 23. "My fastball was okay," Hodges said, "but my breaking stuff really hurt them. I also have to thank my catcher for calling a great game." When asked about Hodges's performance, the Rebels manager shook his head and said, "Yeah, he was pretty good out there today. He was dominating today." This season Hodges has compiled a 11-1 mark with a 2.18 ERA in 15 starts. |
