No Late-Season Magic Coming: Cedar Rapids Out of Playoffs Thursday, September 11th, 2003 Heartbreaking. Agonizing. Devastating. They were all words being used by the Cedar Rapids Rebels after today being mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. "It stings to come this close but come up short," said manager Tyler Simmons. Before this season, the Rebels last missed the playoffs in 1994. In the 25 years they have been a Heartland Baseball League franchise, they have missed the playoffs 15 times. In the last 10 years, they have missed the playoffs 2 times. Cedar Rapids last won the Heartland Series in 2002. |
