Arellano Selected North Player of the Week
Monday, September 1st, 2003
Few players his age are still in the league, but Lorenzo Arellano of the Oshkosh Outlaws clearly loves the game and clearly he can still get the job done. Last week the 35-year-old third baseman hit the ball with the consistency of someone ten years younger, which made Arellano a popular and well-deserved selection as North Player of the Week.
He paced the Outlaws attack by putting up a .500 batting average, 11 hits in 22 at-bats, 5 RBIs and 1 home run. Arellano also scored 4 runs.
This season Arellano has delivered 164 hits in 529 at-bats for a .310 average with 25 home runs. He is getting on base at a .375 clip and his totals also include 91 RBIs and 100 runs scored. This year Arellano has played in 131 games.
