| Injury Worsens, Return Delayed For Rebels Bergeron Tuesday, August 30th, 1983 Bobby Bergeron is hurting again, just a few days into his treatment for a strained oblique. Apparently the injury worsened, so the Rebels sent the 30-year-old second baseman back to the doctors for reexamination. Bergeron told them that the pain had gotten much worse in recent days. It was confirmed that the injury was indeed much more severe that first thought. He was sent to a specialist, who felt that treatment would be longer than first diagnosed. Bergeron will now miss a minimum of 4 weeks.
Thus far this year Bergeron has hit .249 with 18 home runs and 62 RBIs. | |
