Heartland Series to Cedar Rapids Saturday, September 27th, 1997 How does it feel to win the Heartland Series? "It's strange. Weird," is the way the Cedar Rapids manager put it. "Like it was supposed to happen. Whenever something did happen, it didn't surprise us. We truly believed we would win." Today at Rebel Field, Cedar Rapids completed its magical run to the Heartland Series title with a 6-0 triumph over the Jefferson City Jackalopes. It was the 4th time they have won it all. In the regular season, Cedar Rapids notched a 101-43 mark and took first place in the North standings. And how does it feel to lose the Heartland Series? "Your heart is heavy and your stomach is empty," is the way the dejected Jefferson City skipper described it. "It's the lowest of lows when you lose ... and the highest of highs when you win." |
