Williams Bangs 3 HR Against Kenosha
Sunday, July 8th, 2001
Columbia first baseman Ed Williams sensed he was going to have a good game at the plate, but he underestimated just a little bit. Prior to the game, Williams predicted he would hit a home run against the Kenosha Jackfish.

During batting practice he told his teammates, "I really got my swing down pat. I feel some thunder in the lumber. I'm gonna get me a home run in this game." He was right. He did hit a home run -- three of them, in fact -- pacing the Monarchs over the Jackfish 6-2.

"I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," Williams told reporters after the game.

To go along with the homers, he collected 6 RBIs and scored 3 runs.

Ed Williams flied out in the 1st, hit a two-run home run off Andy Jones in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Andy Jones in the 6th and hit a three-run home run off Andy Jones in the 8th.

For the year Williams is hitting .273 with 11 home runs. His stats include 21 runs batted in and 20 runs scored.
