Blair McPherson Forced To Retire, Suffers Another Setback
Friday, September 23rd, 2005
A tearful Blair McPherson stood with Dayton Dawgs officials and teammates as he announced that his baseball career was over. The 31-year-old shortstop was recovering from a concussion, but the injury recently became worse and doctors recommended that he retire from the game. "It's really hard to leave because I love to play baseball," McPherson explained to reporters. "I'll miss playing baseball and living out my childhood dream, but I'll always cherish the memories I have. Despite this bad break, life has been good to me."

Currently McPherson is batting .268 with 9 home runs and 37 RBIs.
