Lake Monsters Prevail, as League Championship Series Goes to the Wire
Friday, September 16th, 2005
Heartland Baseball League fans were certainly not disappointed with this year's North League Championship Series.

The two teams were evenly matched and the series went to the final game, with the Bay City Lake Monsters prevailing over the Kenosha Jackfish to advance to the Heartland Series.

Bay City won the final game by a 4-3 count at The Cove and that sealed the series 3-2.

"Things were pretty tense in our clubhouse and dugout before and during this game, but we can let loose a bit now - the hard work is over, for now," said Ron Hodge, who earned MVP honors.

For the series, Hodge hit .643 with a .792 on-base percentage. He had 2 home runs, 7 RBI and scored 6 runs.

The Bay City Lake Monsters will play against the Jefferson City Jackalopes in the next round. Jefferson City won their series against the Lafayette Stars 3 games to 2. The Heartland Series schedule will be announced after the League Championship Series finishes.
