Kernels Come up Short of Playoffs Sunday, September 4th, 2005 While they stayed relevant late into the season, there will be no postseason berth for the Canton Kernels. The club today was mathematically eliminated from postseason contention. Before this season, the Kernels last missed the playoffs in 2003. In the 27 years they have been a Heartland Baseball League franchise, they have missed the playoffs 15 times. In the last 10 years, they have missed the playoffs 4 times. Canton last won the Heartland Series in 1986. |
