Pollard Reaches 2000 Milestone
Sunday, August 21st, 2005
For Denver Pollard, it was a red-letter day. The Kenosha Jackfish catcher slapped his 2000th career hit. That his team defeated the South Bend Silver Sox, 7-3, made it even sweeter.
His manager paid tribute to Pollard after the game: "I've followed Denver since he came into the league," he said. "Fine ballplayer. Fine work ethic. I'm not surprised by what he's achieved."
The 38-year-old Pollard finished the day with 2 hits in 4 at-bats.
Pollard currently has a career .288 batting average with 2000 hits, good for 220 home runs, 994 RBIs and 972 runs.
