Rebels-Jackfish Make Major Deal Monday, August 1st, 2005 The Cedar Rapids Rebels made a big splash on the sports pages today, agreeing to a major trade with the Kenosha Jackfish. The Rebels will receive 29-year-old RHP Rory Walker, 31-year-old SS Nick McKay and 23-year-old minor league RHP Bennie Towmey in the deal, while the Jackfish will get 24-year-old LHP Ben Hanson, 26-year-old RHP Carl Bennett, 31-year-old 3B Cliff McPherson and a 1st round draft pick in return. Batting .274 to date, McPherson has 15 home runs and 48 RBIs. His record this year is 14-6 in 27 starts and Walker has a 3.17 ERA. |
