 | HBL News: First-Year Player Draft Monday, December 1st, 1986 Scouts, coaches, managers and GMs all huddle together today to review the amateur draft and make decisions to fill their current and future needs. The 1986 Heartland Baseball League candidates will be evaluated even more selectively now that judgment day has fallen on previous scouting reports. Each team will review its initial assessments and compare them to BNN's rankings:
1. Andy Nash, 22 year-old left fielder out of college. 2. Michael Simon, 19 year-old starting pitcher out of high-school. 3. Marvin Morgan, 19 year-old second baseman out of high-school. 4. Pedro Reed, 19 year-old starting pitcher out of high-school. 5. Broderick Moore, 19 year-old starting pitcher out of high-school. 6. Phil Brown, 22 year-old left fielder out of college. 7. Brian McLean, 22 year-old starting pitcher out of college. 8. Michael Brown, 22 year-old starting pitcher out of college. 9. Elvin James, 22 year-old right fielder out of college. 10. Denis Hogan, 19 year-old second baseman out of high-school.
The draft unfolds with the first five picks given to Rochester, Cedar Rapids, Evansville, Poplar Bluff and Bay City. |   |
