Week's #1 Player Honored by Red Monday, April 22nd, 1996 16-year-old Bill Allen made a few Springfield HS headlines during this past week as the rookie catcher proved he could compete at the plate with his high-school idols. He captured the attention of fans, journalists and Red officials last week and today took home Player of the Week honors for his effort. He cracked 6 hits in 11 at-bats to put up a .545 average. Allen collected 2 home runs, 6 RBIs and scored 4 runs. On the year Allen has hit .315 with 5 home runs, 18 RBIs and scored 23 runs. |
