Boilermakers Hurler Named April's #1 Starter Wednesday, May 1st, 1996 The East made it official today -- Michael Strickland of the Purdue Boilermakers is the Pitcher of the Month. In April he impressed the sportswriters with his domination of league hitters. Strickland made 7 starts, registered 5 wins and 1 loss with a solid 2.93 ERA. In 46 innings he allowed 39 hits, racked up 49 strikeouts, walked 18 and permitted teams to hit .235 against him. |
