Hat Trick of Home Runs for Bechtel Wednesday, April 24th, 1996 Rick Bechtel must believe in the Big Bang theory. He proved it today by going deep three times against the Iowa State Cyclones. The heavy-hitting Indiana left fielder added a lot of firepower and excitement to today's 9-3 win over the Cyclones. Fans and foes alike are still buzzing about his standout performance at Fulmars Ballpark. He told reporters, "I've been working on my swing ... trying to keep it short, compact and simple. It worked today." For the game he had 3 hits in 4 at-bats, drove in 5, and scored 3 runs. Rick Bechtel flied out in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Darrell Bass in the 4th, hit a solo-shot off Juan Roach in the 6th, hit a three-run home run off Leonard Nelson in the 7th and walked in the 9th. This year Bechtel is batting .310 with 6 home runs and 11 RBIs. |
