1B/3B Rob Clemons

92%, 1st Ballot, Class of 1993
Oshkosh(1978~1988), Dayton)1989)

Clemons was part of the rare breed of players that spent virtually their entire career with one franchise. Clemons was the starting first baseman for the Oshkosh Outlaws from 1978 to 1988, before finishing up his career with one final season with the Dayton Dawgs in 1989, where he played just one game. He retired with enough Heartland Series rings to cover an entire hand, having played for the HBL's most historically dominant franchise. Clemons won just one batting title during his carer in the HBL, but nevertheless retired with a career .309 average and .402 on-base-percentage. The legendary first baseman had six full seasons in which he batted over .300, posted an OBP over .400, and belted at least 20 home runs. Clemons was voted as the Hitter of The Year in both 1979 and 1982 and was named Player Of The Week 13 separate times. Clemons concluded his years with 1,550 hits, 256 home runs, and 834 RBI's. Along with being an offensive force to be reckoned with, Clemson was no slag in the field, winning two Top Fielder honors and retiring with a +37.0 ZR at first base. Clemons most memorable season came in 1983 when he batted .354 with a .457 OBP, 35 homers, 88 RBI, and an 8.4 WAR.

Career Highlight
During Clemons' 11 seasons in Oshkosh the Outlaws suffered just one losing season and finished first in the North League an amazing seven times bringing home five Heartland Series Championships.

Fun Fact
Clemons led the North in batting average, homers, and RBI once each during his career. Neither of those league leading totals represent career best for him.
