CL Bakhtiyar Davis

100%, 1st Ballot, Class of 1993
Jefferson City(1978~1980), Canton(1981~1982), Duluth(1983~1990), Poplar Bluff(1991)

Davis established himself as the class of baseball closers during the earliest years of the Heartland Baseball League. He was the very first pitcher in HBL history to be inducted to the Heartland Baseball League Hall of Fame and was also the only player in the class to receive 100% of the vote. Bakhtiyar spent the majority of his professional career pitching for the Duluth Danger in the North League, where he held down the closers role for eight seasons from 1983 to 1990. He also spent time with the Canton Kernals, Jefferson City Jackalopes, and Poplar Bluff Predators. During his fourteen glorious seasons in the HBL, Bakhtiyar was elected to 9 All Star Games and won five 'Reliever Of The Year' titles. The legend retired from the HBL in 1991, finishing his career with Poplar Bluff and coming up just shy of 300 career saves (285). Bakhtiyar concluded his career with 722 strikeouts in 719.2 innings, a 2.82 ERA, 222 ERA+, and 1.22 WHIP. Davis managed to keep his ERA under 3.00 in nine of his fourteen years.

Career Highlight
Davis' 1984 season with Duluth has been deemed one of the greatest seasons ever recorded in HBL history, for any player. During the 1984 campaign, Davis tossed 56.1 innings, posted an 0.64 ERA, 0.83 WHIP, and 68 strikeouts. Good for a 683 ERA+.
